Becoming a parent is an exciting and rewarding journey, but it can also bring challenges that affect your confidence, emotional wellbeing and family life. No parent should feel they have to cope alone.
We are delighted to launch a new Parent Emotional Wellbeing Support Service through our Tipton Green Family Hub Spoke, offering early help for parents and carers of children aged 0-2 years who may be experiencing:
- Anxiety or worry
- Low mood
- Stress
- Feelings of loneliness or isolation
- Difficulties adjusting to parenthood
- Other mild emotional wellbeing concerns
Through this service, parents can access up to 12 weeks of free support from qualified accredited counsellors. Sessions provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to talk openly about thoughts and feelings, helping parents to:
- Improve emotional wellbeing
- Build confidence in their parenting journey
- Strengthen family relationships
- Feel more supported and connected
The service is available to Sandwell residents registered with a Family Hub and is designed to complement the support already available through Family Hubs and the Health Visitor Service ensuring families can get the right help at the right time before challenges become more difficult to manage.
Who is the service aimed at?
Whilst referrals are welcome from across Sandwell, the project will prioritise:
- Fathers and male carers
- Families from Global Majority communities
- Families living within the disadvantage post code areas
How can parents be referred?
- If a parent shares concerns about their emotional wellbeing, such as low mood, anxiety or difficulties coping, Family Hub staff can support them to access the appropriate pathway.
- Health Visiting practitioners will assess the parent's needs, review any previous support received and determine whether this counselling service is the most suitable option. This helps ensure parents receive the right level of support from appropriately trained professionals.
Together, we can help parents feel heard, supported and empowered during the important early years of their child's life.
