What is School Nursing
The School Nursing team offers consistent support across Sandwell for all children and young people aged 5-19, including those attending mainstream schools, home-educated students, and those in alternative provisions.
School Nurses will provide support and advice for a wide variety of health needs to support children and young people in reaching their full potential and accessing appropriate education provision.
School Nurses will also signpost or refer on as appropriate. School nurses deliver a core health education programme to all primary schools across the authority.
Sessions offered are:
Reception: Hand Washing and Tooth Brushing
Year 1: Accident prevention
Year 2: PANTS
Year 3 and 4: Healthy Eating and Physical Activity
Year 5: Puberty
Year 6: Emotional health and wellbeing with a focus on transition to secondary school
Parent Drop-Ins: 3 times a year
Chat Health
Chat Health is a text service available for and Parents and Carers (of children aged 5-19) and young people (aged 11-19) in Sandwell.
The service offers advice on a wide range of issues such as bullying, emotional health and wellbeing, sexual health as well as illnesses.
